March – DD Awareness Month

Different Abilities. All Neighbors. One Strong Community!

Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month (DDAM) is observed every March to promote inclusion and recognize the valuable contributions of people with developmental disabilities in all areas of community life. The month highlights efforts to remove barriers, expand opportunities for independence, and support full participation in education, employment, and civic engagement. Led nationally by organizations such as the National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities (NACDD), DDAM features annual themes that emphasize action, opportunity, and community impact. Key activities include advocating for competitive, integrated employment, celebrating innovation in services, promoting inclusive communities, and wearing orange to symbolize a commitment to inclusion for all abilities.
